Why Cowork Fits a Family Office
A typical single-family office is six to twelve people covering direct investments, fund commitments, tax, legal, philanthropy, property, and the family's personal admin. Everyone wears three hats. The CIO is also the reporting lead. The analyst is also the deal-flow manager. The office manager is also chief-of-staff to the principal.
The work is not hard. There is just a lot of it, the cadence shifts week to week, and there is no headcount budget for the four extra analysts you'd actually need. Most of it is the kind of work Cowork does well: read this folder, summarise it, drop the result somewhere, do it again next quarter.
A Cowork setup, tuned to your office's reporting cadence, is the analyst seat you cannot justify hiring but obviously need.
What We Build
A scheduled task at the end of each quarter. Pulls quarterly updates from GPs and direct investments via the Drive connector and from your /quarterly-letters folder. Drafts the consolidated report in your office's house format and produces a one-page principal briefing.
A scheduled task at 6am Monday. Reads the week's activity across the office's Drive and inbox connectors and produces a clean briefing for the principal: what is decided, what is pending, what needs their attention. Five minutes to read instead of a one-hour call.
A folder routine on /manager-research. Drop a fund deck or LPA. Cowork drafts a diligence memo against your office's template and flags the questions that need follow-up. The first read your analyst usually does in a full afternoon.
A folder routine on /direct-deals. Drop a CIM or direct-deal memo. Cowork cross-checks against your office's thesis and past investments, drafts the screening memo. Saves the weekend you usually lose on direct-deal Q4.
A scheduled task each Friday. Reads updates from external counsel and the tax advisor via the inbox connector, summarises in plain English, flags items that need a decision. The glue that holds the office together.
A folder routine on /foundation. Drop grant applications, foundation reports, and program updates. Cowork drafts the responses and summaries in your foundation's voice. Foundation admin, done in a tenth of the time.
